Kocide LLC Announces New President and CEO
COLUMBIA, MD—August 24, 2015—Kocide LLC announced today that it has hired senior executive Glen D. Johnson as its new President and CEO. Kocide LLC was established as a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsui & Co., Ltd. (“Mitsui”) in July 2014 for the purpose of acquiring the Kocide fungicide business from E. I. Du Pont de Nemours and Company (“DuPont”). This acquisition was completed in December 2014. Mitsui acquired the product registrations, registration data, manufacturing know-how (including process patents) of the products, certain third-party contracts and will acquire DuPont’s Houston, Texas copper fungicide production facility. Kocide products are sold in more than 60 countries worldwide.
Mitsui is already engaged in the manufacturing and sales of copper hydroxide-based agrochemicals at Spiess Urania Chemicals GmbH in Germany. With the acquisition of the Kocide business from DuPont, Mitsui aims to achieve synergies between the operations of Kocide LLC and Spiess Urania and to further enhance its competitive position in the global agrochemical market.
Glen D. Johnson, former Senior Vice President and Director of Business Development for Amvac Chemical Corporation for the past 17 years will relocate to the offices of Kocide LLC’s in Columbia, Maryland. Mr. Johnson has worked at various other companies, such as Ciba-Geigy, American Cyanamid and Syngenta in a number of senior management roles.
